Fairburn Ings Reserve Reedbed Habitat Creation and Restoration

The project aims to create and restore several areas of reedbed at Fairburn Ings Reserve. New reedbeds will be created at the main lagoons and at the Village Bay and Cut area. The Robins, North Flashes, Village Bay Field and Main Lagoon reedbeds will be restored. Restoration and creation work will entail removing scrub and trees, clearing ditches, eradicating alien / invasive species and creating fish pools within the reedbed. A 2km footpath will be created around the reedbeds of the main lagoons so visitors can enjoy a circular walking route around the habitat (this will include installing fencing in some areas). The reedbed will be created by the transplanting of rhizomes.
