Far Ings NNR Scrape Creation

The project area is 1.5 ha surrounded by embankments, scrub and trees, typical of reed and fen communities where there is a lack of sufficient depth and duration of water. The proposal is to lower the area to establish a much wetter environment for reedbed specialist species including bittern. This project will significantly address habitat connectivity for both eels and reedbed species by the lowering of banks and creation of water corridors within the reserve and the Humber estuary.
