Fareham Easy Access Trail

Fareham Easy Access Trail (FEAT) is a project to transform a 2km rural footpath alongside the coast at Fareham Creek into a surfaced, accessible trail for everyone that will provide all inclusive access from the centre of Fareham to the coast overlooking Fareham creek and Portsmouth Harbour. This corner of the Harbour close to Fareham is the only naturally attractive part of the harbour that remains unspoilt. It has recently been allocated a public footpath; but this is not accessible for disadvantaged users such as wheelchair and scooter users, people who are visually impaired and older people since most of the route is uneven, stony, narrow and deeply rutted. Funding is sought to upgrade this path with an all weather surface that is wheelchair/scooter accessible, with a raised edge to define it for people with a visual impairment; and to create stopping places with interpretation panels that feature the wildlife and the naval heritage visible in the Harbour.
