Fazakerley Woods and Fields Volunteering Project

Fazakerley Woods and Fields is comprised of 2 county wildlife sites and is potential Local Nature Reserve. Initial action will be concentrated within the predominantly wooded northern section comprising of mature mixed woodland, a brook, areas of neutral and amenity grassland, hedgerow and a pond. Species include red squirrel and water vole but also bat species, whilst it is suspected that great-crested newt is also present. There are a number of glades where native bluebell and red campion are common. The site has some hard surfaced paths and although reasonably well used, there is a need to improve accessibility to improve its value as a community resource
