Fencing of Grassland at Craigavon Lakes

The project will include the fencing of species rich Lowland Meadow (Priority Habitat) grassland to allow grazing to take place. The costs include some initial clearing, fencing, gates and cattle corral.

The land will be managed by the Conservation Service

The fields will be cut for hay and the aftermath grazed to increase species diversity

The project will also purchase a brush harvester to collect seed from the species rich grassland at the Lakes and elsewhere and sew them on the species poor grasslandThe specific objectives of the Project are:-

To fence the meadows on the south east side of Craigavon Lakes
To protect and enhance species rich lowland meadow grassland
To increase species diversity on the Meadows
To allow the fields to be grazed after hay cutting takes place.
To purchase a brush harvester to collect seed from species rich sites and the seed will be drilled into the meadows
