Fermanagh Red Squirrel Group

The objectives of the project are:
facilitate the recording & monitoring of Red Squirrel populations in the council district area;
raise awareness of the plight of Red Squirrels & the conservation efforts being made to protect populations;
ensure that members are kept abreast of up-to-date research & thinking on Red Squirrel conservation and that best practice is followed;
promote Red Squirrel conservation during National Red Squirrel week;
control Grey Squirrel populations by trapping & monitoring &record the activity of members in this regard;
contribute to a better understanding of Red Squirrel populations in NI, specifically Co. Fermanagh, & to support research work of Quercus at Queens University Belfast into the squirrel pox virus;
support & guide the members of the FRSG in their conservation activities.
