Field Boundaries Survey – South Gloucestershire Council

Hedgerows and dry stone walls from the backbone of the countryside for South Glos and BANES. They are home to a myraid of wildlife and can be hundreds or thousands of years old. The survey aims to look at their numbers, status, condition and management in order to aise awareness and focus protection and enhancement for the future as they are under threat from intensive agriculture, poor management neglect and development. All suvey data is digitised and forms part of a wider environmental data-base. The project would host a Project Officer to recruit, train and support volunteers. The PO will liase with Parish Councils and landowners and will provide feedback to the widest possible audience through parish reports, guided walks and the council websites
