Fife Red Squirrel Project Phase 1: Community Based Red Squirrel Conservation – Devilla Forest

The aim of this project is to contribute to the conservation of red squirrels by constructing an all – abilities red squirrel trail in Devilla Forest, Fife and using it as the focus of a comprehensive and intergrated programme of outdoor education and interpretation, awareness raising, research and monotoring. Devilla Forest is an extensive area of Scots Pine woodland with significant populations of red squirrels. It is considered vital to the sustainability of red squirrel populations in Fife particularly as it forms a ‘pinch point’ for the movement of grey squirrels and the pox virus from the south.
