Projects / Finkle Street Dam

Finkle Street Dam

To promote and encourage interest in ‘fishing for all’, and the restoration of the historic Finkle Street Dam area for leisure and recreational activities in an idyllic rural setting.

The dam is a hidden gem, but was closed and fell into disrepair becoming known as the “Swamp Dam” (silt, Himalayan Balsam etc) from 2005-2009 through overhead power cables.

With the situation now resolved, major improvements to the site are planned, to create a safe and secure fishery where juniors and disabled anglers are catered for, and to encourage the wider community use and appreciation which the site deserves.

A safe site that is welcoming to all will be created, with easy access to designated fishing stages, safe banking and the encouragement of a diversity of wildlife on the site.
