Fishwick Enhancing Ecology Project

The 7ha project site is made up of two BHS sites - and will become an extension to the existing Fishwick Bottoms Local Nature Reserve. The Fishwick Enhancing Ecology project includes the following elements. Ecological Works: A programme of works by LWT conservation volunteers under the supervision of a LWT officer will include hedgelaying, woodland management, tree removal, hedge and small tree planting, vegetation and wetland monitoring. Ecological Management: Ecological management by Preston City Council will ensure that the works by LWT are successfully established, replacing diseased plants and controlling rank vegetation. Woodland management will concentrate on thinning of young sycamore, control of ash regeneration in glade areas, removal of young beech and privet.
