Five Weirs Walk – Sheffield

The application is to fund the building of a fish pass, a wheelchair accessible fishing platform and canoe portage over Walk Mill Weir with a ramp from the main road. This application is part of phase 6b of the 5 Weirs Walk. This is the construction of a 5km stretch of footpath/cycle way along he banks of the River Don, between the Wicker and Norfolk Bridge in Sheffield. A fish pass will enable coarse fish & salmon to swim up the weir to a higher section of the River Don. Sheffield has more licensed anglers per capita thanany other city in the U.K. and this project will improve the amenity for local anglers who have traditionally travelled to rural Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire to enjoy their past time
