Floodlighting Upgrade, Longlevens Rugby Football Club Limited, Gloucester

The project aims to install a state-of-the-art floodlighting system on the Longlevens RFC grounds to enhance the facilities available to the rugby club, the local community, and The Milestone School, a special educational needs institution. By providing high-quality lighting, the club will extend the usable hours of the facilities, allowing for evening and winter training sessions for adults, children, and mixed-ability teams. This will support regular matches and fixtures while increasing accessibility for after-school activities and community engagement.

The implementation of floodlighting at Longlevens RFC will significantly improve player experience by ensuring adequate visibility for training and competition throughout the darker months. Enhanced lighting will also improve safety standards by reducing the risk of injuries associated with poor visibility. Additionally, the facility will be available for use by the local school and wider community, promoting inclusivity and accessibility. Planning permission has been obtained.

Beyond sporting benefits, the project will contribute to environmental and financial sustainability. By reducing the need for players and teams to travel to Gloucester for evening training sessions, the initiative will help lower carbon emissions and transportation costs. Furthermore, it will decrease reliance on hiring external pitches, making local rugby more cost-effective and accessible.
