Flower Power

The Flower Power project will restore and protect fourteen neutral grassland meadow nature reserves across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This 2-year project will involve Wildlife Trust staff, volunteers and specialist contractors in the surveying and conservation management necessary to attain the optimum condition of the meadows.

Management will include: mowing, hay cutting and grazing; fence and gate replacement and repair; tree management; hedgelaying; scrub and weed control; ditch restoration and pond work. This work will be informed and assessed through habitat and botanical surveys and water level monitoring, carried out by Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers and National Vegetation Classification (NVC) consultants. Tracks and paths will also be improved and managed to ensure that project workers and visitors can access the sites without damaging the fragile habitat.
