Footpath Restoration Work

The main aim of this project is to up-grade the existing footpath around Birnie Loch LNR. The key activity for this project is to return the footpath to the original acceptable minimum specifications for multi-user use. This will be achieved by scraping back mud and vegetation to gain the original 1.5m wide path width for approximately 1.8km and re-cover with a new surface material. This work will be undertaken by FCCT Maintenance team and The Ranger Service who have many years’ experience of these types of projects. Were possible local volunteers will become involved in this project so gaining experience in path construction and will be under the supervision of FCCT staff. Birnie Loch LNR receives approximately 10,000 to 15,000 visitors per year and is a popular site for both local communities and visitors from further afield. Access for the general public on this site is allowed 24hrs per day, 365 per year. Please see sheet.
