Foreshore clean -up and maintenance at Arrochar

The foreshore at Garelochhead is heavily contaminated with flotsam and jetsam and acts as an entrapment area for waste arisings from the Firth of Clyde.
Working in partnership with local voluntary groups and the Local Authority, Greenlight will establish a multi – funded project to clear and maintain the foreshore at Arrochar. The specific foreshore identified for this project runs for around 1000 metres from the – East side of the Loch, round the Loch Head to the end of the speed restriction on the north -west side of the Loch. The initial cleaning will require around 6 weeks concentrated activity plus the use of heavy equipment to gather and remove years of accumulated shoreline waste. Thereafter, cleaning at one day per fortnight for the remainder of the year to capture residue waste as it contains to gather. When the waste is under control, the local volunteer group will assume responsibility for the foreshore maintenance.
