Foreshore clean – up and maintenance at Garelochhead

The foreshore at Garelochhead is heavily contaminated with flotsam and jetsam and acts as an entrapment area for waste arising from the Firth of Clyde.
Working in partneship with the local voluntary group and the Local Authority, the project plans to utilise the Company resources and expertise to tackle this problem in a professional way. Initially this would require the use of our own heavy equipment to clear years of accumulated shoreline waste and would take around 12 months of regular visits to achieve. A following 12 months maintenance period may be required to keep the area clear as residual waste continues to gather. When the waste is under control, the volunteer group will take up the foreshore maintenance with funding for the removal of collected material, in year 3, coming from the project
