Foreshore clean – up and maintenance of Garelochhead

The foreshore at Garelochhead is heavily contaminated with flotsam and jetsam and acts as an entrapment area for waste arisings from the Firth of Clyde.
Working in partnership with local voluntary groups and the Local Authority, Greenlight will establish a multi – funded project to clear and maintain the foreshore at Garelochhead. The specific foreshore identified for this project runs for around 550 metres from the foreshore adjacent to the property ‘The Anchorage’ on the South side of the Gareloch, round the Loch Head to ‘Argyll House’ on the north side of the Loch. The foreshore will be cleared fortnightly, in partnership with the local volunteer groups, for the 12 month period of the project and all the waste collected will be removed from site. Towards the end of the project and as the waste arising reduce, the task of maintaining the foreshore will be handed over to the local volunteers.
