Forres in Bloom Project 2012

Our application is to further these aims and in particular to meet the demands of the present economic constraints and to encourage sustainability and diversity in the range of planting and landscaping. The project will improve the environment and landscape features in the centre of Forres for residents and visitors alike.

1. Replace existing crumbling steps to the Sunken Garden in Grant Park with new steps and handrails to improve the hard landscaping and provide safer access.
2. Planting of wildflower meadow areas on the fringes of Grant Park to attract insects and birds, to increase biodiversity and enhance the appearance of the area.
3. Provision of permanent plants, for example, trees; summer bulbs; herbs and shrubs. This will reduce the amount of annual bedding and watering.
4. Purchase of self watering pole planters to reduce watering.
5. Commissioning of sculpture for Grant Park to mark the Forres Community Association’s bid to hold Pipe Band Championships in Forres.
