Forth and Clyde Canal Access Improvements – Falkirk

To increase the use of the path by people of all abilities.

To maximise the opportunity for people to gain significant benefits in terms of health and wellbeing.

To improve the quality of and safety of the National Cycle Route Network. (a durable and even surface is essential for safety, particularly where it is adjacent to water).

To provide a safe walking route to both Falkirk’s schools.

To improve access to local facilities as well as the Falkirk Wheel, one of Scotland’s premier tourist attractions.

To enhance the visitor experience and perception of the area, through a quality path network.

To enhance the environment around the Canal to make it welcoming and safe.

We will meet these aims by improving 1041m of towpath between locks 5-8 at Bainsford, Falkirk.
