Fortunes of War (Works to upgrade Building 45)

This is a part of a wider development plan to transform the National Museum of Flight into an internationally important facility and visitor attraction. The project will upgrade Building 45, a World War II RAF Nissan Hut on an WWI and WWII airfield. It will; restore the building; make it fully accessible; make it more environmentally friendly and provide an educational visitor experiences of the highest order. After restoration, it will re- open in 2009 as an exhibition about the history of East Fortune airfield site called Fortunes of War. It will make our collections accessible to broader audiences, increase school visits and have ecomomic benefit for the local community.
