Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve

This project aims to restore the 350 hectares of lowland raised mire (peat bog) at the NR and will be the largest peat bog restoration to take place in England.

The moss has suffered in the past from forestry, drainage, scrub invasion and peat cutting.

Project costs include Project Officer (PO) costs for 3 years, which include associated core costs that have been directly attributed to this project. The PO will facilitate and implement mire restoration works including ditch blocking to raise the water level, scrub control and replacing the boundary fence to exclude stock. The project also includes reed bed creation works, access improvements, enhanced interpretation and viewing facilities for visitors will be installed
