Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve Public Amenity Improvements

This project is part of a wider scheme at Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve which aims to restore the 350 hectares of lowland raised mire (peat bog) and will be the largest peat bog restoration to take place in England.

This project looks to open up the Nature Reserve as a public amenity for the general public to visit, use and enjoy. This will be done by providing improved access through the installation of car parking areas (on the Nature Reserve land itself solely for the use of visitors to the Nature Reserve), new paths, viewing towers, platforms and hides. The site will be interpreted with reserve entrance signs, marked trails and species and habitat information inside the hides and at viewing points. To ensure that the wildlife at the site can sustain the number of visitors, attracted visitor counters will be installed and the visitor impacts observed
