Foxburrow Wood outdoor classroom project

The project will create a large, multifunctional outdoor education / forest school-style facility in an area of young woodland in the northeast corner of the nature reserve. A post and rail/stock netting ‘invisible’ perimeter fence will be installed with several gates to keep children contained and dogs excluded. Within the compound we will install an all weather shelter, rustic furniture, permanent fire pits, composting toilets and secure vandal-proof storage. We will also buy a compact ride-on grass/brush tractor to maintain the site and open new exploratory areas within the woodland. A feature entrance with a dry stone wall, willow arch and appropriate signage will complete the classroom.

Once completed the facility will be used for children’s education, training courses, camp outs, and one off events. We will use the area ourselves, but the majority of the use will be by other local eNGOs, scout and guide groups and other local community groups.
