Friends of Ruabon Heritage Trail

The project is to add additional information boards along the Ruabon Heritage trail. To update information boards, we propose to add a QR codes which would link digitally to a Ruabon heritage website. The proposed website would have more detailed information about the heritage of Ruabon plus audio and video reminiscences from local people capture their thoughts and views of the area to ensure these are captured for posterity and accessible to all
We aim to also incorporate new technology in the form of iBeacons that enable people to use their mobile phones to access directly information and more material on the various historical spots around the area.
We expect that this will increase the participation and engagement of local people and visitors to the area. Friends of Ruabon have held a local history meeting at the village library and used social media to request anecdotal reminiscences. We have also had discussion with the local high school to work with year 7 pupils.
