Friends of Stoneydown Park

There is an existing ball court/multi use games area in Stoneydown Park, but it is very under-used by the local community as it is simply a fenced off area of tarmac, without court lines or sports equipment, and because many people seem to think that the court is part of the adjacent schools. Historically it was well used until the old basketball hoops were removed when the fencing was replaced. Although the schools use the space for overflow playground, we would like to transform the under-used games area so that the local community can use it once again. In simple terms this would mean installing some fixed sporting equipment (such as basketball hoops/football goals), re-surfacing the court, adding court lines, making alterations to existing gate positions and adding new signage to encourage community use. We would like to include some community art on the wall on the boundary wall inside the existing court.
