From Port to Powerhouse – a Window on the World

Bring the historic Ellesmere Port Slipway back to life to enhance the Museum’s offer for
visitors and help them better understand the Port and its place in the world. To be
achieved through the landscaping of the site, installation of new pathways and creation
of an accessible viewing area with interpretation and talking telescope.
Deliver learning and interpretation for the wide boats and Slipway which will increase
understanding and enhance the visitor experience – Creation of Augmented reality App
and purchase of 5 tablets for use with groups.
Reveal new interesting stories about the port and its significance, including the lives of
many ordinary port workers and wide boat skippers upon whose efforts the industrial
revolution was built, through a range of engaging interactive interpretation and activities
Funding specifically requested to enable the restoration of the Winch House and
associated interpretation and creation of a ‘discovery space’ within the Carpenter’s
Workshop.
