Full Steam Ahead: The Restoration of Engine Farm

The Full Steam Ahead project will restore arable farmland to fenland wildlife habitats, including ponds, wildflower meadow and wet grassland, which will provide breeding and wintering habitat for waders and wildfowl. This will be achieved through a mixture of soft and hard engineering works, seeding and intensive management, resulting in: approximately 50ha of grassland rewetted; up to 10 new, lined ponds; 60+ha of dry grassland; and 60+ha of wildflower/nectar mix meadow with mown pedestrian routes.
