Projects / Galston Parish Church

Galston Parish Church

Robert Stirling was the Minister in Galston from 1824 until his death in 1878-54 years. He was minister in the town during the cholera epidemic of 1848-49. He was the inventor of the Stirling Hot Air Engine, the subject of ongoing research since its invention in 1816. He is buried in Galston Cemetery but his gravestone has been allowed to lapse into disrepair, unworthy of a good and gracious man. This project will provide a replacement headstone for famous son of East Ayrshire
