Garnock Valley Allotment Association

The gardens will be used to promote the production of fruit, flowers and vegetables and will be managed in ways that promote and encourage community involvement. Once developed the site will be divided into 73 plots in a range of sizes to accommodate the diverse needs of groups and individuals. It will be designed to make it easier for the elderly and disabled to get involved and offer scope for green gym activities and school visits.

The aims of the project include: promoting the opportunity to improve health, fitness and mental well being whilst taking action to improve the outdoor environment, protect biodiversity and environmental sustainability and encourage social enterprise.

The main activities of the group can be categorised under the headings of wider community participation, education and training, employability, health and the environment.
