Garon Park, Southend on Sea – All Weather Play Space (2) (007988)

The aim of this project is to renovate the playground and community activity area to provide a safe and secure space for children year round. Play is not just a pastime; it is a fundamental aspect of a child’s development, fostering creativity, social skills, and physical well-being. the playground is situated between the 3G pitch, café and pavilion and there is daily demand. The area is currently grass and is unusable in the Autumn/Winter and after heavy rain. The area is multipurpose and is used extensively with over 6,500 users a month when the weather is dry. Works include new all weather permeable play surface, fencing, a wheelchair swing and the installation of water attenuation tank, the water will be utilised in the disability garden.
