The project aim is to provide sustainable facilities to be used to improve community health and wellbeing and to enhance the beauty, biodiversity, and environmental value of the 30-acre site. Funding from Veolia and National Lottery has enabled completion of phase 1 of the path project – a wellbeing trail, multipurpose pathways for cycling, running, walking, wheelchair use, used by general public & local community groups. Phase 1 & 2 is to plant 600 trees and 1300 hedgerow whips is due for completion in Winter 2020. Phase 2 will be to provide facilities along the trail –outdoor gym, nature school, children’s playground, orchard, sensory/community gardens, community shed – used by 100s to improve physical and emotional health and wellbeing. As we come out of lockdown, the project addresses the marked deterioration in physical and mental health needs of the local community now more than ever.
