GARSTANG Millennium Green Improvement Programme

Garstang Millennium Green was created in 1999 to provide a public open space and natural habitat for Garstang and the surrounding area’s residents and visitors. This application is to address the issues related to over use and river damageby by resiting the river bank path and improving and widening other paths plus additional routes, using geogrid material which can withstand occasional flooding and wet conditions. Advice has been taken on the most suitable materials and all paths will be widened to allow improved disabled access, along with new tapping rails and imptoved surfacing material overlaid onto MOT type 1 base. Contractors will be used for the drainage, installation and excavation work, but much of the unskilled labour will be provided by local volunteers and the project will be overseen by the Management Committee members who have appropriate professional experience.In Kind contribution is estimated to provide over £10,000 savings.
