GDA Community Centre: Phase 2 re-development

Phase 2 of GDA’s re-development and refurbishment works relates to its Community Centre building at the Centre for Deaf People, Colin Road, Barnwood, Gloucester GL4 3JL. It follows the successful completion of Phase 1 during the period October 2014-March 2015. Phase 1, which had been triggered by a pension deficit, was all about consolidating on to half our site in order to sell off the rest.

Phase 2 will allow us to address other essential repair and re-development work that is just as urgent but was not critical to being able to reopen the Community Centre after we lost our car park, washrooms and storage rooms. Phase 2 involves resolving a rising damp problem in part of the building; replacing the old boiler and heating system; making repairs to the roof; and completing the landscaping outside that will add a footpath entrance and walkway. It also involves replacing an old hearing loop system in the Centre, which is critical for a deaf charity; and to improving rooms inside.
