Geordie’s Wood Habitat Creation Project

To create 17 hectares of new, native woodland and open ground habitat on improved grassland, framed by a functional and sympathetic dry stone dyke, thus enhancing the biodiversity of the area. We will accomplish these projects in partnership with BBC Scotland and the local community. Our Geordie’s Wood project will see the transformation of an area (17 hectares ) of improved, low value grassland. We will be planting 17,400 native trees over the next year, creating mixed broadleaved woodland with a large concentration of upland oak woodland, which is rare in Clackmannanshire and contributes greatly to the country’s BAP targets. We will also be constructing a new dry stone dyke from local stone to serve as a boundary around this woodland creation area.
