Gibside Great Crested Newt Project

The pond improvements include re-excavating four existing ponds, creating two new ponds and planting native pond plants around recently created ponds, to encourage great crested newts to lay their eggs. The project will also be a fantastic opportunity to engage with the local community in the villages surrounding Gibside. We aim to design and create a board to be displayed in our wildlife information room at Gibside Stables Learning and Discovery Centre and use an underwater camera so visitors can see what goes on under the surface of Gibside’s ponds.

Please note this project is funded by CDENT and was originally registered with Entrust by them. As they are closing they have asked us to take over the registration of the project. The start date is therefore the date we expect this to happen and not the original start date of the project. Costs have also been amended accordingly following Entrust advice.
