Gilchrist Gardens

The aim is to regenerate a community garden which once played a central role in the village by enhancing its appearance and increasing its accessibility for all members of the community.
The Gardens were gifted by the father of Marion Gilchrist after her death in 1915. She was the first woman to graduate in medicine in Scotland and named along with Joseph Lister.
The village has received four thistles in the Beautiful Scotland Awards and improved public areas that encourage biodiversity and the group aim to use their experience to create an area that once again can be utilised to the full and enhance the village.
