Glasgow Living Waters Project

The project will focus on smaller waterbodies, primarily ponds. Ponds are a priority action plan habitat (HAP). The project will work on a number of identified habtiats either restoring and / or creating standing water habitats. In total fourteen sites have been identified. Approximately 34 ponds will be restored and a minimum of 8 new ponds to be created. The project will create varied examples of nature friendly habitats. The work will draw on volunteer input enabling them to get involved in practical conservation sessions including: Conservation audits Drafting habitat plans Implementation of habitat plans Post implementation habitat management These habitats will provide practical examples of how actions from the National Pond HAP can be achieved. The aims of the project is to: Improve a number of identified neglected habitats Create a new water and terrestrial habitats Provide volunteers with practical training.
