Glastonbury Abbey - The Abbots Kitchen

The project aims to conserve, protect and re-present the Abbots kitchen, reputedly the finest example of a 14th century domestic medieval building in Europe by removing modern concrete cement and replaced with appropriate mortar. Improving internal ventilation, damp control, lighting to enhance the visitor experience. Increase access for people with disabilities. Survey and document the building, unlocking the past for conservation and interpretation. To re create the kitchen as a working kitchen as it was in its heyday when the Abbey was at the height of its powers.
