Gloucester Canal Towpath Upgrade

The project seeks to enhance accessibility by improving the quality of the towpath and encouraging a modal shift from motorised to non motorised use south of Gloucester. The scheme covers areas of low social mobility and areas which have experienced considerable growth, increasing demand. The enhancements to the towpath will encourage a diverse and growing range of use including recreational use, commuter access and access to services within Gloucester Quays and Gloucester City Centre. The scheme will provide biodiversity improvements along the route to create new habitats and encourage tourism with visualisation points and enhanced signing.
