Gloucestershire Frome River Restoration Project (Part 2)

This project offers the opportunity to conserve, protect and improve the physical and natural environment of the River Frome for the benefit of Gloucestershire, its people and its environment. The Frome corridor is already an important natural resource but there is considerable potential to enhance its current value to a range of biodiversity species and habitats, as well its enjoyment as a green open space for recreation and other leisure-time occupation of the public.

The aims of the project are to improve fish migration along the River Frome and to increase access to high quality habitat for fish, whilst incorporating a number of flood attenuation features. There are significant opportunities to enhance the channel and floodplain habitat diversity with a particular emphasis on reconnecting the floodplain to the river channel through the restoration of relict features.
