Go Duck

Go Duck will create a wetland discovery trail within the grounds at Martin Mere Wetland Centre. The trail will be a ‘half-way house’ between the centre grounds and the wild reserve. It will give the public the opportunity to engage with the natural environment through a series of family friendly wetland activites.

The project aims to engage visitors of all ages with native wetlands and wildlife by implementing the findings of our visitor engagement strategy. These findings revealed two key visitor segments at the wetland centre: ‘Learn Together Families’ (motivated by the desire to learn as a family) and ‘Sensualists’ (motivated by a desire for tranquillity and close contact with nature). We will address the needs of these visitor segments by opening up a previously inaccessible area of the centre grounds, providing multiple opportunities for learning and interacting with wetland habitats alongside areas for peaceful contemplation.
