Projects / Godmanchester Baptist Church

Godmanchester Baptist Church

The project consists of Phase 2 to 3 of a building repurposing project to convert a former shop for community hub/foodbank use. The work to be funded will be mainly ‘second fix’ internal work, including rewiring, disabled toilet, decorating etc, and may include installation of solar panels and improvements to the outdoor space if funds allow.
The overall aim of the whole project is to renovate a former shop area at Godmanchester Baptist Church to enable its use as a foodbank and community advice hub, including creating two meeting rooms and a stock room. There is currently not enough space for the Foodbank to operate and store stock, to meet clients privately and confidentially to discuss their needs or signpost to other support.
The shop area at the moment is unsightly and unusable, having asbestos and a leaking roof. The services this will provide are increasingly in demand and there is a need for expansion of space and opening hours.
