Gorse Covert Mounds – Improving access and biodiversity

The Trust will install a metal radar kissing gate at Gorse Covert Mounds and carry out repairs to sections of boardwalk which have become unsafe. Sections of the track networks will be thinned to open out the edges increasing light levels reaching the woodland floor, improving path condition by allowing paths to dry out and making the woods lighter and less inhibiting. Finally we proposed installing stock fencing on a section of the boundary to prevent unauthorised access from motorbikes.

To enhance the biodiversity of the site we propose carrying out essential coppicing work to two compartments of the wood.
