GPE0785 Elsham – Newlands Hill Verge Nature Reserve – Chalk Grassland Habitat Conservation.

Elsham Verge Nature Reserve (VNR) is a well established area of calcarious grassland supporting many key species of wildflower – such as orchids and broomrape as well as specific wildlife such as moths and butterflies. Seasonal cutting of the grass and removal of invasive scrub species is essentail to conserve this rare and sensitive habitat. The project will involve volunteers in the seasonal cutting of this wildlfower meadow area and removal of scrub, as well as species identification and recording.
