GPF0179 The Green Community Orchard

This project will develop fully the work begun on the ‘Keeping it Green’ project that established the Community Orchard on College-owned wasteland. Plans include planting more trees and fruit bushes in line with the ‘Forest Garden’ concept, developing the Orchard as an informal educational resource as well as a leisure facility and establishing it as a composting centre for local area. We intend to build on strong links now made with the local community, especially a newly established youth group, and other young people including our own students (who will volunteer in their own time) and other locals so that they’ll be involved in this project from the start to develop it into a flourishing and sustainable community project.
