Projects / Gracehill Village Square Heritage Trail

Gracehill Village Square Heritage Trail

Gracehill was the first designated conservation area in Northern Ireland. It is an early example of “town planning” dating from 1760s. At its centre is a formal village square that comprises walks, a pond and planting. Grant aid was secured and work completed last year to restore the pond, pathways and trees. The public can now access this historic area which is surrounded by 16 listed buildings.
This project aims to create a Heritage Walk by designing and installing interpretative signage at intervals around the square indicating the history and significance of various sites. This will greatly enhance the understanding and enjoyment of this historic public amenity.
