Granite City Forest: Tullos Hill – Public Access Infrastructure Improvements, Phase 1

This Project is the first of a 2-Phase programme of public access and recreational infrastructural
improvement works which are an integral element of the new woodland creation scheme at Tullos Hill,
located on the immediate southern edge of Aberdeen City. The overall aim of this Project is to help fulfill a “Tree for Every Citizen Programme” which is to plant 200,000 trees in the city. The Tullos Hill element will “improve public access and recreation facilities, and enhance the sense of place within Tullos Hill”. More specifically the project is designed to improve the current poor quality of access provision particularly at the entrances to the Hill which are overgrown, unwelcoming and thus discourage use by the general public for recreational and educational purposes. The beneficiaries of the project will be the wider population of Aberdeen as well as visitors to the area but more specifically the deprived local communities adjacent to and nearby to Tullos Hill itself.
