Granite City Woodlands – St Fitticks Park

Currently St Fittick’s Park is a large open under used area of grass within a priority area for regeneration within the city. It lacks shelter and structure. The community woodland with open areas will provide a local amenity.

This project represents Phase 1 of a two phase programme of new woodland creation over a three year period involving the planting, maintenance and successful establishment of new mixed conifer and broadleaved woodlands. It will enhance the biodiversity value of the City’s greenspace and help create new wildlife and woodland habitat corridors within the city; provide environmental education opportunities for local schools and young people; provide new and add value to existing public access to green spaces and woodlands within the city, making them safe and welcoming and places for healthy exercise and relaxation; improve linkages between the City’s core path network and the City’s woodlands;
