Projects / Grazing Felmersham Nature Reserve

Grazing Felmersham Nature Reserve

The project will enhance lowland meadow habitat at Felmersham Nature Reserve by facilitating conservation grazing. Rotting fencing will be replaced by new galvanised steel posts with an expected lifespan of 30 years. The new fence will be partly stocknet mesh so that in future sheep as well as cattle can graze, which will help to enhance grassland habitat. Two cattle corrals will enable safe handling of livestock and seven kissing gates will allow visitor access through the grazing compartments. Three badger gates will be installed in the stocknet fencing to allow badgers to forage freely across the site.
