Grazing for Norfolk’s Wildlife

Purchase of 14 Dartmoor ponies and over 150 Shetland ewes for conservation grazing on NWT nature reserves to benefit BAP habitats including fen, lowland heathland and dry acid grassland for the benefit of associated BAP species. Creation of one new full time post of Livestock Assistant and a part-time contract shepherd to manage the new animals and to enable NWT to breed from both the new and existing herd and flock. The project will include acquisition of appropriate livestock infrastructure and animal husbandry equipment and training and development for new and existing staff and a team of volunteers.
